Thanks for the encouragement guys and gals. I have done a few things as of late, just no time to do a few pictures.
I'll post when I have a bit of time, my dad has had a stroke, and is in the U of A hospital. So I have not had a stitch of free time in the last 5 weeks to do a whole lot. He's was doing good and was starting to walk again when he suffered a second stroke last Monday, a month after the first. So we're back at square one, but he's kept a positive attitude and has started to do his rehab again.
Just to let you know, the tank is full of water and cycling. Im not sure if I'll have much of a cycle as the rock Im using was in a holding tank for the last year.
On a lighter note, I have forgotten how my skimmer works and it took me about an hour to get things figured out. Afterwards I did have a good laugh at myself as sometimes I can be so stupid.
I do however want to thank everyone who's come by and given me a hand in the last little while, I do appreciate it.
So I'll update in a bit when life calms down a little and I get dad home.

Hey, so take it easy for a bit. Sorry that we harassed you so much.
We are just very excited for your new build.
Hopefully your Dad will be OK, and home for Christmas and new year celebrations.

Take care. Lenny.

I know Ive been telling you that the new pics are coming, life has been a bit crazy the last couple months, a few new things have sprung up. The first couple of pictures are of the new skimmer, couldn't be happier with it. Thanks to Dave at concepts for bringing it in, much appreciated, just want to say this is a beast and by far the best skimmer I have ever had, next to the SM250.
This is the SM300, Im sure some of you have seen the exact same skimmer on Dougs build, heres the beast in action and what it can do.

This is the lid and collector after about 10 days, Ive been feeding quite hard and scrapping up the rock, as I've had a problem with hair algae from all the dry rock used. I of course didn't soak it first and Im sure it was the reason for the hair algae problems.
This by the way is at least 2L of yummy skimate.

Heres a couple random pics of the tank, my lights should be here next week or the week after. I went with the sunbrites, staying with leds, I hope they are as good as they say.
I only took pics of the north side of the tank as the lighting is just on the on side, Ill try to get a few more up as the night goes by. Half the fish are on the other side of the tank, Ill try to get a shot of a few.

I pulled the trigger and bought the F series from Sunbrite. They're all hooked up through my iPhone and seem to be working just fine. I have them at about 25% in the pictures, at 100%, it far too bright in the tank.
I have to thank Ray for getting them here, and for answering my thousand questions.

Ya, I dont think there is a shadow anywhere in the tank. I think Id actually boil the water if I took it to 100%. Just have to start playing with the colors and programming now. I thought 4 would be a little overkill, and maybe it will be, but easier to do it now than later.

Now I have however solved the problems with my pumps. I have them hooked up through my profilux now and have a pretty good wave going in the tank. I think the program can be tweaked a bit but it seems to be doing fine, nice part was I had a wave within about 5 seconds of a set point. Didnt have to muck around that much. I think Im averaging about 95-100watts between the two pumps. I wish I would have boughten the larger pumps, but these seem to do the trick.

Ya, Im still trying to get the profilux to its full extent. I can wire in my pumps, hook everything to a remote terminal, but im not smart enough to figure out the dam power bars..... Im an idiot when it comes to some things.
Ya, the pumps are pretty sweet, like I said I should have gotten the larger ones, but I think by the time I need new ones, the waveline or the vertex will come out with something. I do however have a line on something else........ it will make you jealous for sure, just waiting on a bit of info.........

The pumps are 220v Mike, so if your still interested lmk, as I would like to get the larger size. These will push about 4600gph, and through the control box easy to set up. I have them through the 1-10v port on the profilux, so I can do pretty much anything I want with them.
And no, not another skimmer, how can you beat a SM 300???? This thing kicks the hell out of anything out there......

Im surprised I didn't get more response on that group buy, I got these at an awesome price and they seriously kick ass. Now I don't know about other controllers, but the profilux was actually easy to set up(With a little help of course from a few people). Not only is it low wattage, but fully controllable, I don't think there is anything out there right now that can touch it. Although the new vertex stratus looks strikingly similar.......

They look to be very nice pumps but I think the price point is maybe a tad high for the average hobbyist. With Vertex jumping into the fray with more vendors to follow I'm sure the pricing will improve with time.

Im sure the vertex will be top notch, most of there product is. The problem is, I was waiting for the cerebra to come out before I bought a controller. After a year of nothing, I got myself a profilux because I was tired of waiting. Heres hoping that this isnt the same type of problem.
I think we can see the benefit of a DC line of pumps, waveline has taken off, the benefit of these pumps are they are quite small, a lot of people do not have a larger tank so these are a good fit.
The benefit that I wanted was no powerheads in the tank with a wave motion. I needed a fully controllable pump to achieve this, yes there were problems at first, but I think I have it all ironed out now.

Hey Terry, hows it going?
The sohal is actually the smallest tang in the tank, maybe 6", but thats six inches of pure evil. I actually had to sell my powder blue, as the sohal wouldn't let him eat.
The other two are a horseshoe and a black spot tang.
Just the four, was going to try one or two more, but I don't think thats a good idea anymore. Other than that just a black leopard wrasse and a couple of mystery wrasses. more than enough for now, summer is coming and I dont want to get too much going as the girls and I have a lot of camping planned.

The pics are good but this is one of my all time favorite tanks in person.

Thanks Jay, but it still needs a lot of work. Im going to have to get over there and raid your tank after I get this doser set up. This coming from a guy who's tank kicks the **** out of mine.....

I might of got lucky with mine, he was close to 12" and didn't really cause to much trouble. He was definatly the boss though. He would eat anything and everything. The only fish that he would chase a bit was my Moorish Idol, probably because he was kind of bad ass looking.
Cheers

I love the Man Cave sign ... I have the same one in blue lol.

I also really like the powerhead mounts, great job.

I noticed you switched to the Sun Brite's from the Solaris, but I missed why?

Oh, and the tank looks phenomenal ... nothing like the tank going in first and building the rest of the room around it!

I needed more light and could not find another I5 series in Canada. I found 2 in the states, but to get them to my door was pricey.
Overall I really like the sunbrites, although now I wish I could have them connected to the profilux.

That dussumieri looks gorgeous! nice collection you've got there I really hope they play nice for you. Love the 'camping' shot. My kids would LOVE to do that but I'm short a driveway and a camper lol.

I had to laugh on the weekend as I thought of this picture. I brought the trailer home this past weekend and I couldn't get the kids out, we had to play in there for quite a while.

Where do you usually go camping? I'm looking for some places to take the kids this/next summer. We went to Mcdonald Resort on Buffalo Lake last year and it was great for kids and very friendly. It was nice that I wasn't the only one dealing with screaming kids at 6:00 am lol. They do like to nickel and dime you though.

I hear ya, we've had a few driveway campout already. The girls and I do alot of camping during the summer, nice thing is we always go sunday through thursday(benefit of having the summers off). Depending on if the wife wants to come out or not determines the distance traveled. Close by we often go to Carson-Pegasus, Wabinum Lake, Cross lake, Pembina river and Pigeon. Kids are a little older now so we'll venture a little further this year, so far I have Crimson lake, Newell lake, Dinosaur, Brazeau and Chungo creek. I have been to every one except Newell, but I hear it is very nice. If you head up to the Nordegg area let me know, Ill tell you where some of the best fly fishing spots are. I just bought a nice little generator, so looks like bush camping is back on as well, hoping to get out near lodgepole as well this summer.

Newell's nice, or at least it was 20 years ago. We used to go fishing and camping there on a regular basis ( Grew up in Medicine Hat )

Drove right by it on the weekend, If it wasn't for the screaming kids and the insane winds causing me to get 4 mpg out of the truck I may have stopped to have a look..lol

Not much new, a few new pieces. Life has been far too busy and Ive been away too much lately so Ive just let stuff be and changed the water now and again.
I have to get some more fish as the tank looks bare.
