Hey there im a newbie at salt water fish keeping and i just recieved a new 400watt 10000k light and i heard that it might be a little to much for the 70 gal tank.

Thanks Gerard

You may end up with some heat issues, but that can be solved by moving the light higher.

i have a 400w 14k on a 32 gallon, its about 8-10 inches above the water any close to the water then there are heat issues.

Thanks i have built a closed hood for it ,venting the hood out side im hoping that that takes care of the heat issues.

I was also told to move my coral to the bottom of the tank intill the corals get used to the light or it will cause them to bleach is this true? and if so how long will it take to get used to it??

Thanks gerard

Yup, very true. You should move them down & slowly move them back up, maybe over a period of a couple of weeks at least, depending on how bright is your current lighting.

If you dont want to move your corals, start the light high up, and slowly lower it into position.
