Hey guys,

What does the average price per bucket work out to be? (ie on a 160gal Instant Ocean)

Thanks

It depends on where you get it from. I think JL is normally $49.99 but you don't really get a deal unless you buy a pallet (24) pails

From the last local salt group order, I think it was $69.99 or something like that through IA.

We'll be needing more salt as well. Eight 200g buckets of Kent would be fine for us

Have shipped from J&L in the past. Shipping costs for a pallet of 24 from J&L make the price slightly less than what we paid AI last time. However, I really liked setting up the order through AI where folks ordered their own salt and picked it up at their leisure. Shipping from J&L is a PITA to pick up and distribute, IME, and is not worth the difference is price between J&L and AI.

I'd volunteer to again talk to Ron at AI to set up the same deal as we had last time, if they can do it. How does that sound?

What does AI charge per bucket?

Since there is lots of interest I will take 2 or 3 pails. Bev if don’t mind setting up the order at AI since you have done it before.

Hey, if Josh is going to be on the coast in about a month, I'd be willing to get my eight 200g Kent pails from J&L  How much is shipping going to be, Josh?

i emailed Jeff to see if they could cut us a deal if we could get 30 pails together

How would $5 a bucket shipping sound?

Beverly
04-11-2005, 12:29 PM
Josh, $5 per pail for shipping is great. Does it matter if it's all one brand of salt for the deal?

Now all we have to do is get 30 pails. Anybody who wants just one pail should consider doubling their order to make up the full 30 pails.

I'm still in for eight 200g pails of Kent.

If there's room for more orders after you Edmontonians, I'd for sure take 8 Kent if Josh could hang onto them till he comes to Calgary.

"shipping" would be $5 per bucket on top of whatever J&L charges. Im still waiting to hear back from Jeff at J&L.

I can fit up to about 60 buckets in the bed, so feel free to mix n match, and anybody from Calgary is welcome to include some as well. I can hold them until someone makes it up to get them, or ill bring them next time im down in calgary, usually once a month.

The trip is tentativly set for the middle of may depending on our schedule. I may move back a week or two depending, but i need salt soon too  and need to head out that way for other reasons as well.

Soon as i hear back from Jeff, and get closer to setting a date ill let everybody know.

Beverly

Josh,

How will you set the deal up with Jeff? Do we each order our own salt from Jeff, pay for it when ordering, and tell him it's for Josh to pick up?

Psyire
04-12-2005, 03:42 AM
I'm in Edmonton usually atleast once a month, sometimes more. I'm definately interested in 2 pails of Kent.

BlkWolfe
04-12-2005, 04:43 AM
We can do it the same as the rock order last year...

call up Jeff and place your orders, pay for it however you see fit, tell them its part of the group order being picked up by me (Josh in Edmonton), and then pay your part of the shipping when you come pick it up from me.

DO NOT CALL JEFF YET...im still waiting to hear back from them about a group deal and to let him know this is a go. So dont start placing orders just yet

Just a thought

Ok i talked to allen...

Here are the prices (INCLUDING GST)

Instant Ocean 160g bucket - $42.75
Kent 200g bucket - $50.00
Marine Enterprises Crystal Sea Salt 150g resealable box - $39.54

Add $5 per bucket to the above prices and that will be the your total cost per bucket picked up from my door. eg one 200g kent bucket will cost $55. $50 paid to J&L, and $5 to me at pickup. Or 47.75 per IO 160g, again $42.75 to J&L and $5 to me at pickup.

Apprently their bottom line on the IO was so close to retail there was no room, but Allen was wiling to eat the gst on the kent.

So here's what we'll do...

Everyone that wants to join...email me at lycancanada@gmail.com . please provide me with your first/last names, location (edmonton/calgary/wherever), a contact number, and how many of which brand of salt youd like.

Because i dont have an exact date for my trip, i'll keep the order list, and when the date gets closer and finalized, a copy of the list will be sent to J&L. then everyone will need to contact Allen at J&L to pay for their portions. There will most likely be a 2 week window from when we send the list to the deadline you must pay by for your items to make the trip back.

When the date is finalized and the list is sent, ill contact everyone on the list as a reminder to pay your part

Date is going to be somewhere between May 16th and May 31st. Sorry i cant be more specific yet.

Hows this sound for everybody?

Sorry i havent updated guys

my trip has been postponed until July. Work came up and i cant get away for that long in the near future.

Thanks

Josh,

I have enough salt to last me until then, but others may not. If you are in with Josh so far, but cannot wait until July, maybe I could set up something with AI like last time. AI can get a pallet of one brand of salt, however. Last time it was Kent 200g pails. Can't remember the price, but it was extremely reasonable compared to regular prices.

Which ever way we go, I'm still in for 8 pails Kent 200g pails.

Funky_Fish14

Does anyone have any idea how many pails there are per IO salt pallet? Also any idea on approximate price? Thanks.

Chris

Beverly

I hear from Josh that he is looking possibly the end of August for our salt order

My questions are:

- do you all want to wait that long and possibly longer for your salt?
- do you want to set up an order through AI like we did last time?

AI will probably want to order one pallet of one brand of salt, unless they can get enough orders for a pallet each of Kent and IO. There are 24 pails per pallet if I remember correctly.

I now need ten 200g pails of Kent.

Who's still in and what do you all want to do?

Is it too late to join in? I wouldn't mind a couple of pails (2) of IO.

Hmm, so it looks like there are two people that would take alot of kent but more people interested in IO salt. I might take 2 buckets of IO, would anyone else? If thats what it takes to get some IO salt.

there is 16 or 17 pails of kent and like 5 or 6 of IO. I did forget to say I would get kent.

I'd say closer to 8 pails of IO, and there are quite a few people who didnt specify a brand.

So whats the differences between Kent and IO, I mean quality wise?

Chris

My 5-6 just changed to 8-9 Buckets of Kent.

So that's 20-21 buckets of Kent, very close.

I'll need a couple buckets for my new tank .. Kent is fine.

Is Kent better than IO or is everyone just Biased?

It does look like kent is slightly cheaper than IO however.
