What is your preference on heaters, lets see which is the most commonly used.
Pro's - Con's what's your opinion.
I'll start it off, I a 200 watt Via Aqua titanium in my 50g sump &90 DT and a Eheim jager 125 watt back up. 100 watt Eheim jager in my 33 g frag tank.
I find Eheim is the best all around glass heater, reasons German made quality, you can recalibrate them, thicker glass tube, accuracy.
I have a Via Aqua titanium, wanted to try one, remote sensor, digital control and seems accurate.
Your thoughts and opinions now. :yo:

I've used Jager's going on 25 years, for all the reasons you pointed out. Probably will never switch.

Jager's here as well found they are very reliable and good quality
I have about 12 Jagers from 100-300W and they all vary around 5-10 years old. I just recently lost one (quit heating) and that's the first Jager I've ever lost. I also have about 6 VisiTherm 25 & 50W heaters. They have been performing just as well.

Bit of a hoarder are ya:lol: Why so many?
I've always used Jäger but switched to Finnex about a year ago. No problems with either.

Looks like Jager is very popular, does anyone run heaters with a controller or just use the on board stat?

I have my heater (very old brand) running off my controller. It operates within a range, using its own thermo switch. But would never trust a heater on its own, no matter what brand.

My Finnex comes with it's own controllor and has been flawless.

As surprising as it may sound, I like to use a (quality) heater on its own but with supervision from my tank controller:
I get SMS and email alerts of gross temperature excursions as well as plug the heater into a controlled outlet that
will be killed if the heater goes "bananas".
This scheme is not 100% perfect as the outlet *could be* switched off by a goofy controller off but overall,
I prefer the "layered" security of this scheme rather than put all my trust in either the heater or the controller.
What can I say, I work in electronics (hence the username) and don't trust the stuff 100%...
