ID requested for this encroaching growth. Is about 1 mm thick,
grows slow,
brick red, or brown,
is soft to the touch.. but solid.
Nothing grows on it. The mushrooms it came with have been pushed aside as it grows.

Any ID guesses? How can I control this stuff.. have brushed it off.. but it grows back.
