Default Power outages today ... surprised there weren't any posts looking for help

My power at home was out today from before lunch until about 9pm.
The wind both at work and my wife told me at home was huge.
At work I was being pushed through doorways, and we had a roof torn off of a shed.

Where power is concerned for my tank I'm covered.
I have 2 x 18AH batteries for my MP10s and a battery charger keeps them topped up, a gas fireplace on a power-out relay that keeps the living room warm for the tank, and the tank's canopy keeps heat in.
I have battery powered air pumps that run on D cells. They kick in when power is out. If any of you would like to have the same they are Aquatop and about $17 @ J&L. They plug into an outlet and turn on automatically when the power goes out.

Tonight, after 8 hours without power, my tank was still 79 degrees. But my sump in another room dropped to 75 degrees.
I've just finished programming my RKE to keep the return pump off until the heaters get the sump water up to temp.
I don't like the idea of cold water entering the display.

I think I'm covered for the next outage ...

Good luck all

Sounds like you have a plan that works. Good work, we could all learn from you about being prepared.

Facebook and Instagram lit up yesterday with cries for help but as I like to say too many people were giving way too much bad information on how to protect tanks and giving limited or incomplete information. I tried my best to get people to come here to the forum and post or at least read and get good solid information

There was good information posted but it usually got lost in the social media panic with sadly many posters berating those not prepared on several social media platforms.

I like the backup generator with an extension cord running to the tank I have the battery back ups for the MP40's, D cell air pumps and a gas fireplace that will run during power outages.

I have a emergency generator and UPS, as well as several battery-operated air pumps.

Even better, our power lines are underground in our neighbourhood so we have that advantage.
