Default Price of Glass

I'm going to build my kids a new tank for Christmas. The tank is going to be about 19 gallons, custom size to fit in a specific spot. I took the measurements into the local glass shop and was quoted $9/sq.ft. including the cutting. It's just standard 1/4" window glass nothing special. Just wondering if that is in line with city prices or a bit on the high side?

I got the same price in an Edmonton glass shop for 1/4" this summer.

It's a little high, I usually pay about $5 a square foot including cutting and I find glass prices to be higher in Sask than in Alberta. The high price is probably a result from the small order.

I paid $7 a sq/ft in Calgary a year or so ago.

Thanks for the replies. I thought it was a bit high, but it's only a small amount. That's what happens when there is only one glass shop for 100 miles in any direction.

It's odd ball sizes 20"x12"x18" and only works out to roughly 10 sq ft. Not that big a deal. It's still better than their 5 gal plastic little mermaid. The soft plastic scrathes when you try and scrape coraline off it.
