The dives were in Nanoose, just north of Nanaimo. The Wolf eels were denned up together and we were unable to entice them to come out and play. I suspect they may have had eggs. The octo was big too, from what I could see I'm guessing 4' or so.

Nanoose! Awesome. One day I will have to go diving there.
How cold is the water right now?

Nice...I've got to dive Nanoose one of these days. How was the vis? Looks kind of cloudy in the sea lion shots.

Quote:
Vis was about 50' Funny thing about the Sealions, there were about a dozen of them came to check us out and caught us by suprise. The big male circled us a few times and when my partner went to snap a picture his suit vented for a moment and blew a bunch of bubbles. Sealions take this a an agression sign the he swam in real fast and got about 5 feet from my partners and barked/growled at him, circled us twice at close range then took off. Very exciting and scary all at the same time.

Was that off Mistaken island? I've done the puffer point just south of Nanoose bay a few times in the summer but the vis was never that good.
Did you guys shore dive or boat?

The dives were shore dives off Madrona Pt. and Seducers Cove. The vis us usually aweful here in the summer, just too much algae and "life" in the water. Fall and winter are definately the best times right up until the time that the herring spawn. I saw zillions of baby prawns yesterday floating around. Looked like little mysis Wish i had a big plankton net, get some food for the tank
