Wow, very nice. I can't wait to see how you do the top. I will be building a 7' peninsula tank over the next 6 months and I've yet to decide how to do a canopy from the top of the tank to the 9' ceiling.

Default Canopy

Pretty much got the canopy completed here are a few pics of what I did.

This is where its going

Couple of the shell

Being that this is a sealed unit I needed a way to be able to service the light. So I used drawer slides to mount a piece of wood to that the light will be attached.

Sealed unit requires some venting and fans. The fans are connected to a timer and comes on with halides. Keeps the tank at a cosistant 27-28 deg. They produce very little noise, can't even hear them really.

Some pics of the completed unit. Each side opens for access to the tank and the light pulls out enough to change the bulbs or clean. It also could be removed very easy if need be.

I still have to enclose the back side to wall - maybe this weekend.

very nice! Hopefully you never ever have to move that tank as it looks like it is permanently fixed to the house now

Thank you!

It looks permanent but really it is not. I was able to find two joists that run directly under the canopy that I tied into with eight screws and the cleat that is on the wall is held up by four screws. When/if it is time to move the tank it will just be a matter of filling in the holes on the wall and ceiling and a little bit of mud and paint - you will never notice it was there!

Thanks!

I have LOTS of new frags. In time I will be posting some pics of all the coral in the tank. I will use this as a time frame for growth.
