Default Skimmer Problems

I got my skimmer about a month ago new its a Eshopps S-120 its was working great for the last month but i had a problem with purple algae so I used Chemiclean aquarium treatment I turned off my skimmer like the directions said and did a water change when it said then after a week and a half i tryed to turn it back on only to find it would buble over to fast and fill the cup I can not turn it down any lower.

Can some one tell me what I should do/try?

Thanks
Shawn

Hi:

I had the same issue. I did about 15% wc, and to wait about 1 week before I could turn on the skimmer before it wouldn't overflow and then did another 15 % wc.

You can use some egg crate or other inert material that you can place under the skimmer base to raise it higher in the water column until it stops overflowing the cup. After a couple days the bubbles won't reach the cup anymore and just drop the skimmer back down. Another water change while you are doing this will help also.
