Default New 300

Tell me what you think. Here is a plan of what I have in the works, I've been shut down for a couple of months an have started to plan out some details about the new tank. Dimensions will be 72" long, 42" wide and 24" tall, with a true centre overflow. Give or take about 300 gallons total. I am going with a steel stand construction, with a frag tank and a sump underneath. Probably about 400 gallons total.

You bet, I have gone with 2"x2"x3/16"wall, just like we talk about about a month ago. It will be plenty strong, benefit of having a welding shop at your disposal is you don't have to mess around.

Your goal is to have a walk-around? The idea is very cool but something I'd personally only do with a 6x6 footprint or bigger. You're building a tank with such an awesomely wide footprint but then you more than chop it in half with the overflow there. It's a real commitment. I'm sure you can hide it with rock but then that encroaches on your space even more.

That might be just me though. I'm sure you'll make it happen right.

I was going to do a room divider at first, but my wife was kind enough to let me do a peninsula style. Here's a couple of pics of the demo.
The wall before I got started(sorry Joe, you'll have another wall soon)

This is what I was going to put the tank.

And now with the rest removed.

Nice work, that is what I would have done for that size as well. I should go into consulting for builds and charge a minimal fee to feed my reef addiction

Brett,
I would have loved to go bigger, but I think I have almost overstepped my boundaries as it is. The centre overflow will be 18"x6" and I have something in mind to blend it in.
