Dave, before you buy it, check out the speed at which it actually takes the pic. See if they'll let you in the store. Hopefully they've worked on that since the 880.

PS I still love my 880

I know Sony makes underwater housings for their digital camera's.

depends if you want a full size or compact.

i got a canon s400 for its compact size. fits very comfortably in a pocket.
4MP, 5cm min focus/macro.
underwater housings are available. (and may be purchased before my next tropical excursion )

I don't recommend my Canon S40 as it has lousy Macro and one of your requirements is good macro.

Just got the Canon Powershot A 80 and I love it. Check out that dpreview website it's got lots of good info. I spent about a week going through reviews and stuff and decided on the Canon.
