Default Sun Coral, babies too!!

Couple Macro shots of my Sun Coral...

I recently noticed baby Suns, down the back and underside of the rock, 7 that I can see. Here's a few that I can get a shot at.......

I've been feeding it Caviar once or twice a week. I shut down the pumps for an hour and feed it a teaspoon of well rinsed Lumpfish Caviar, spit into two feedings. The following pics are taken every 15 min during an hour feeding....

Pumps off, first half of feeding goes on it.......

15minutes later.........

1/2 hour into the feeding(before second half of Caviar).......

Still at 1/2 hour(after second half of Caviar).....

45 minutes into feeding.......

1 hour, pumps are back on, Coral is FULL......

It's actually 2 Sun Coral types fused together, on the right there's a small portion of Yellow Suns, with the left larger portion being Orange Suns. I believe it's the Yellows that are reproducing down the rock.

Great pics! What kind of caviar are you using? I always thought they were salted or something. I once bought flying fish roe used for sushi and it seems to be well received by the things I feed it to, although it was fresh, and I froze them, and I think they don't do well after being frozen. They lose their colour within minutes of being in tank, so I'm not sure if I'm doing anyone a favour by feeding it now, or if I'm just adding random organics into the water column..

That's beautiful! How do you keep the fish from picking the food out of the corals mouths? I used to use a sawed off pop bottle with a feeding tube siliconed on the end.... the pop bottle would stay in place until the coral had eaten the food, and the food was distributed to the coral via the feeding tube.

I don't use the pop bottle method, and I feed at least 3 times a week, rarely daily. The fish eat the Caviar, and minced Krill that I feed also. The polyps usually take in the food before a fish steals it, there's some competition, but the Coral adjusts, becoming "stickier" and quicker.
