Default Nuvo 10 Adventure

So....I have a problem....I like this hobby a little too much for my own good. Despite having lots of issues with my two other tanks (one which I built my entire house around), I still convinced my wife that my daughter needed to get into the hobby with me. Thus this adventure was born.

Being that it's the third tank in the house my spouse insisted that the budget be tighter than what I often get to spend. I am trying...lol (just in case she reads this).

The tank is the IM Nuvo Fusion 10. It's a nice little nano package that seems to have a lot of success in the nano tank world and is well priced even here in Canada.

Here is the equipment list:
IM Nuvo 10
Coral-box Moon LED
Stock pump
Jebao SW-2 dc pump (if needed)
Hydor 50w heater
JBJ ATO with a TOM aqualifter to top off
Bubble Magus Dosing container with fresh water for ATO
Aqua-gaget Caddy for filter media

That's it for now...so here is the first picture.

Cute little setup. I'm sure she'll love it.

Well, got a little more done today. Like in my big tank, I cut a piece of acrylic to cover 3/4 of the floor of the tank to protect it from the rock. Then I rinsed some of the sand I had, seafloor special and prepared it for the tank.

I had several rocks from my big tank that I had removed from the refugium due to algae and I have "revitalized" them with a year outside and recently a bleach soak. As it turned out only one of these rocks fit. I had another clean rock that was still in my tank that I planed to use as the seed rock for the new tank. When put together I was all out of room. The real estate here goes fast.

I think I like the rock-scape (it has room for some corals) and I can clean all the way around it. This is my daughters tank and she liked this setup the best of the ones I tried so that's really what matters.

Now i've got filter floss and a filter sock trying to remove the stuff I couldn't rinse out.

So the tank has been progressing nicely. I have had good success using Prodibio startup and that's what I did again. Along with some MB7 I have not experienced a cycle. I didn't get one on my 300 when I started it either.
I had to do some repairs on the JBJ ATO but along with the TOM it has kept the water at a perfect height. Today I added the Jebao SW-2 pump and put it on the lowest setting. It's creating a nice wave in the tank and I'm really happy with it.
The Coral box light has been awesome! It's easy to program and really has nice colors. I can't say I love the screen on the tank lid so I will be re-doing with smaller screen.

I've been watching my numbers and they have all been good all along so today was the day to add some livestock. My daughter had her sights set on a pistol-goby pair at the LFS and so we got them along with a couple snails and a couple tiny hermits. I added zoa's and a chalice about 3 days ago and they have looked great. Today I also added a small ricordia as well.

Overall I'm happy with how it's coming along.

Coming along nicely.
You're right about the screen mesh. Wide border and thick white mesh - not very appealing.

It's cute, it doesn't occupy much space. I think I want one too.
Thanks for sharing it.

I don't think I'll ever leave the hobby for an extended period of time since I picked it up just over a year ago. Though, if I had to downsize from my Reefer 250 I'd get something very close to this. Might even get one of these anyways lol, they're really cool. Just need to avoid overloading it otherwise maintenance becomes a headache quite quickly.
