Default Back to CanReef after a break raising my own little frag...

Hey guys,

I took a break & got rid of my livestock a few yrs ago when my wife got pregnant.

Now my little girl is old enough to ask questions of why I have a tank of water in the living room with rocks in it (I kept it running with just live rock & a few water changes), I'm going to get back in the game.

System is a eurobraced 48x30x20, full width weir on the back with a 36x20x20 sump.

3 x AI SOLs

Couple of Tunze powerheads

Bubble Magus CS-something skimmer

First of all, the prices of livestock is shocking compared to 3-4 yrs ago!

Second, I'm not sure I'm going to go down the SPS route again, not at first anyway. I'll start with a FOWLR for now.

Third, a some LFS have popped up that I never heard of & a few have dropped off the map. (I would appreciate some pm's regarding which are the good ones these days).

Lastly, I never got my metal tank stand skinned, can anyone point me to a store/person/cabinet maker who can help me skin the frame?

Good to be back.

Good job on keeping the rock and drive alive!

My daughter was good with helping me keep the glass clean!

Who did you use for the cabinetry?

I'll be transitioning to a metal stand and am hoping to add cabinetry...
I don't have faith in my DIY aspirations...

Nice . Did that with the kids also. The one thing that has changed lately is availability and prices.

Thanks guys!

I’m excited to get into the hobby again.

Wasn’t fun having a box of water & rock sitting there for all these years thinking ‘when can I start up again?’

It might be a blessing for me that availability is low & prices are high right now. This will force me to go slow, as it’s always too tempting to add more than I should right away.
