Default Connect two TEK lights together?

I have been looking for a used 4 foot Sunlight supply TEK light to put above my 55 gallon with no luck. I already have a 24" TEK and am now considering buying a second one used and putting the two end to end over the tank.
I do not want to put them in a canopy.
My idea is to use a TEK bracket on each end and somehow connect them in the middle.
Please, let me know if this will work or if I am looking for trouble.
Thanks

I/we actually had the gentleman who fabricates metal stands for us at Red Coral custom build a bracket that used the existing screw holes to join the two units together.....the brackets I have were a prototype and the light still sags a little in the middle.....I have a small piece of bamboo propping it up against the center brace on my tank(still better that the large tek mounting legs)the brackets needed to be a titch longer.....you could PM Red Coral and see what it might cost to have a set done for you and shipped out....

I managed to attach the two ends together using these little double washers that I found and the 6 screws at the end of each fixture. No sag at all.
I will post a pic later.
Thanks to those that replied and helped me figure this out.
