My biggest near disaster was about 4 months in to this tank. Left for Palm Springs for a week, with my roommates in charge of feeding (I preportion enough food so no over feeding mishaps). It was before I had found the right kind of switched 3 prong outlet for my water change pump, so I was using a light timer with the timer part deactivated instead.

Madly preparing the tank before we left, I accidentally knocked the timer and turned it on. 3 minutes after walking in to the house in Palm Springs I got a panicked phone call from my roommate that water was gushing out of the cabinet all over the office floor.

She was walking out the door when it started. Had she been 30 seconds ahead of schedule, 55 gallons of r/o water would have emptied on to the floor of a room with tens of thousands of dollars in computer equipment.

Oops.
