Default Hammer coral question

I've had various hammer corals over the last few years. In my tank the tentacles are always thin like this

I've seen them in stores looking full like this next pic and when I bring them home they become thin.

This is the second tank, have used t5 and led yet nothing changes. They are healthy and always multiplying. Nutients are always low and stable patameters. Any ideas?

TIA

Well you have posted two different corals. The first pic is a branching hammer and the second is a wall hammer. The wall hammers have much more curved polyps at the ends.

Thanks for clarifying that I'm an sps guy myself so any LPS I have, was aquired from a trade with another reefer. Gotta start looking at the LPS side of the fish store more often lol

Yeah what Potato said

Plus for both varieties I find that I can have the same coral in multiple locations and it tends to be more stringy and thin looking in higher flow and higher light they might bunch more and be less stringy but their still thinner, and then they are nice and plump and full in lower flow with slightly lower light. You have to find their perfect spot in your tank because everyone has different conditions even if they look the same or similar.
