Default BBQ instead of Oven - what are your stories/recipies

With this recent heatwave it's been too crazy-hot to turn the oven on.
So what have you been doing to cook dinner ?

This thread is about what inventive cooking ideas you've done on your BBQ, not what you've been eating this summer

So I'll start ...

I cooked a pizza on the BBQ recently. It took awhile longer than expected but I couldn't close the lid to cook it in the normal time as it got too hot.
It turned out wonderful. Nice and crispy - not wreak-your-mouth crunchy. Just keep an eye on your temp/flames and keep in mind the cheese/sauce will let you know how it's coming along.

What are you cooking on your grille this summer that is outside the norm, or something others wouldn't expect ?

I do pizza on the BBQ all the time. takes about 3 min a pizza to cook, all home made and probably the best pizza I have ever had. I use this http://www.bakerstonebox.com/ best 100ish bucks I have ever spent for a bbq accessory. I also have been running the smoker and BBQ for normal meals. Also I have discovered BBQ mats, another must have

here is a pic to get the taste buds going

Pizza on the BBQ is amazing, even reheating ordered stuff works great. I would love to get a smoker though.

So this BBQ mat thingy ....

I've read up on it a bit ;
It states to not expose it to flames

Steve, do you have deflectors in your unit ?
I only have cast grilles and open flames under my ceramic blocks so I'm a bit concerned about using a mat with my setup.

PS; great food ideas everyone! Thanks

ya I have deflectors, but isn't that what your ceramic blocks are doing? I have to take my deflectors off to use my bakerstone though as my burners are pretty far below the grill

you can get the bbq mats as low as 6 bucks each on amazon.ca (that's where this one is from) maybe get one and see how it works. only out a little money if it melts
