Default sand bed issue

not really entirely sure what is going on with my sand bed, however it looks like something has been building up in the corner, it felt mushy so I siphoned it up today, and did a water change. The bucket went oil black, and smelled of extremely dense skimmate.

Any thoughts on this, really considering ditching the sand bed now.

hmmm, not sure the poor sand is to blame, if you have stuff building up in the corner its probably a dead spot and stuff will build up there whether you have sand or you don't.
