Default tap water purifier

Hey all! after quite a break of any sort of serious reefkeeping (2 years) I have decided to give it another go. now I had a biocube running the whole time but just sort of did menial water changes and kept it going. now im gonna kick it up again and start keeping corals and well ... caring haha. but anyway right now im just using one of those tap water purifier ion-exchange cartridge filters for water changes. I know those aren't very efficient and kind of an old school method. I was just wondering if it makes sense to invest in new cartridges for my old ro/di unit or should i just keep goin with my little tap water purifier. i'm just not entirely sure i trust it to filter everything. Thanks for any tips!

Stoked to get back into this!

If the filters have not dried out, especially the membrane, I would just put some water through it and after 5 gals, take a TDS reading and see where you are at.
