thats a good question, i think it depends on how often you feed them, calcium levels and water quality, I have a nice candy cane coral and haven't noticed any new growth in the past 3 weeks.

Candy Cane was one of the first coral I introduced into my tank. I received it with only two heads and it now has 6 within the span of 1.5 months. I neither feed them nor dose anything to the tank. Generally I think it's a pretty low maintenance and fast growing LPS.
