Default PC gaming

Kid wants to try PC gaming but my 10 year Dell (Pentium4 2.0g, 512mb, GeForce 6200) doesn't meet the minimums requirements or barely for the games he's interested in (Teams Fortress, Starcraft/Warcraft, Total War).

As I'm basically cheap and the current system does great for my use (forums and downloading Bit-torrents) wondering if what looks like 600-700 bucks to hit the minimums for another PC enough or just wasting time/money.

it was this one but it was $449 somewhere just keep an eye on flyers...keep in mind I play WoW and starcraft on my tiny 14" LG X120 Laptop I got for free when I signed up with telus...as long as he is'nt looking to play any crazy new intense games it doesn't need to be that high tech and you can find some great sales! also do'nt buy anything with windows vista although I believe all new computers now come with windows 7

Memory express is definitely cheap for parts but the charge to put it all together is pretty hefty from what I remember but worth checking out we don't have one in red deer

Indeed we build all our computers with parts from Memory express but for some peope it can seem a daunting task :P plus just to get a decent case, power supply, motherboard, processeor and OS it's going to run you $500 then you still need graphics and ram....so sometimes the prebuilt ones are easier for some people that's all I was implying
