Looks intrigueing. I've been wondering about these cone skimmers. I wonder how close to the 400-500 gals rating it is? I assume this is going in the new FOWLR? Let us know how happy you are with it.

It's rated for up to 700g lightly stocked. However it's rated for 400g heavily stocked (which of course my set up is). We bought it for the new tank however it should be enough for both tanks (once it's all plumbed together) so we'll see how it goes.

Laurie its says that its rated for 4-500 gal ... what type of pump is on that one not the Sicce 2500 is it or is it a different pump. how tall is it too and wide , jsut seems that a skimmer like that is rated for that much weird maybe the cone is the way to go now something so simple and its going to pull that much more

It was between this skimmer and a BK. The reason I went with this one is that the BK is $600 more, and I wasn't sure if the BK I wanted would fit under my crawl space where my sump is. Plus I was curious to see how good the cone skimmers really are. Let my guinea pig days begin.

hey as long as your happy that is all that matters, mind you i have been there done that with skimmers, lights , everything else. now I'm all about filling my tank with SPS and buying top notch gear. mind you when I had my ATI bubble master skimmer that was probably 2nd skimmer that i really liked compared to my BK 200. mind you the only reason i got rid of the skimmer is the sicce pumps werent a great pump IMO/IME, after a power failure they would not stat up again they had to be helped out abit.. other then that the skimmer was pulling amazing crap out of my tank...
they also have the BM 300 with 3 pumps that is a wicked skimmer too... rated for 750 gal. but I will have to check out the tanks when I come up, and help ya tweak that skimmer too. I may need a ride from the base to your house and i will buy the coffee's thou... is that is ok..
