Default Acro smells bad. Is it a goner?

I have an acro that had some algae growing on it at the tips and they looked a little bleached. I broke off the areas of aglae but it still smells bad. It also didn't seem to react to me taking it out of the water. How do I know if it is still alive?

If acropora smells, it's still alive.

It does smell pretty bad but I don't think it looks that bad. Ignore the yellow. It is just a shadow. What do you think? Any hope left for it?

Looks fine. Leave it for a while and let it settle in and see if it colors up. Acro, to me, smells almost like those little baby corns, if you've ever smelled those

Some have also suggested that acros smell like sweet corn or stem cells. They definitely do have a distinct odor.
