Default New main pump, suggestions

Hi all, Im getting sick of my tank sounding like a generator all the time so I am hoping for some suggestions.

Currently I am running a mag9.5 for return and to mj1200's for my reactors.

I would like to integrate all of this into one pump, but also want an increase in flow.

I am ok with internal or external pumps, but I am hoping for something that is 1500-1800gph

my overflow is rated to handle 1600, but by the time you add in the head loss from height and the pressure lost to the reactors, I figure this is perfect.

QUIET is key in this. I would rather not hear it at all.

Suggestions?

Thanks!

That is a bit odd i'd say. I had 2 X Mag 9.5 pumps running on my 131 and it was silent as can be.

I wouldn't think again about recommending a newer/bigger Mag pump with a manifold system to go to your reactors. If it is loud, there is a reason for it usually. Something is most likely vibrating. Vibration dampening on any internal pump is the key to silence.

I have it set up externally at the moment, my sump really isnt big enough so it was my only option. Im building a new sump now and will have room to run internally in the future.

My current mag seems to be dying though, Ive cleaned it thoroughly, but it seems like the flow is less than half of when I first set it up.

i would look into this: http://reefsupplycanada.com/cgi-bin/...ada&item=59357

Controllable so you can adjust the flow.

Though I like the look of that pump, its a bit out of my price range. Ive been looking at pumps like the sedra ksp20000. Opinions?

Poseidon/Velocity PS4/T4 is a very quiet pump close to the gph range you are looking for. It will add heat to the water though, good in the winter, not so during a hot summer.

Im blessed to live in the basement of my building. My heater runs all summer. A little more heat in the tank really isnt an issue to me

Maybe this might be more a fit at the pricing you're looking at: http://www.goreef.com/Water-Blaster-...p-1300GPH.html

I personally don't like Sedra's...I've had three and all have failed after the impeller's swelled within the first 6 months. All got warranty, and all replacement impellers swelled again. Just not great quality if you ask me.

ANy more suggestions. I need to replace my 9.5 mag with something comparable. What is the best option. I will need a pump soon as the 9.5 has stopped twice.
