Default Spawning

Walked past my tank the other night 30 mins after lights out.....this is what I saw.

Turned on the lights and found this happening

I of course freaked out and wanted to know what the hell was going on.

Turns out the anemone was releasing all this

Thought I would share.

WOW! In captivity thats a real feat, means someone is doing something right . How cool would that be if you had 100's of little anemones growing in your tank?

My RBT anemone did that about a month ago. 2 nights in a row. It freaked me out at first also. But no harm done

Both a male and female anemone are required for fertilization.

From the picture it looks like yours is female. Let us know how your tank is in a few days. Some people have reported their tanks being nuked from spawning events like these while others havent had any problems. If you're at all concerned do some water changes.

Oh and congrats My sebae also spawned for a few nights during the spring of 2008 but hasnt since.

Well I found something in my tank last night I think might be a baby anemone...it looks just like the big version, only it was about a mm long and transparent. I just got home from work and its not where I saw it last night, but I'm gonna keep looking.
