Default Moon lighting

Hey everyone,
Just setting up my tank (about a month old now) and im starting to get some livestock but lots of them are rather nocturnal.. (snails, crabs, peppermint shrimp).. I want to watch them in the evening but dont want to keep my lights on all night. is there a "moon light" type bulb/fixture out there? something with just enough light to watch them without it impacting their behaviour? do you recommend it? or should i just get a flashlight?

Any thoughts are appreciated!

I still like to run moon lights because of the look. I periodically shut them off and use a red plastic material over a small maglight to observe nocturnal activity without frightening all the critters.
