Default FREE CALGARY red belly fresh water newt.

Hey everyone

I have a fresh water newt, 2 inch. he is free to a good home.

we have seen newts, never had one, max size? minimum tank? mix with fish? if so what size? food (our fish?)

into calgary sunday, would like him if we can accomodate him

If it's a fire belly newt you'll want to have it in a species tank usually. A 10 gallon would be best, but a 5 gallon will suffice. I've seen them get up to 6 inches in length. I wouldn't mix with fish, as you'll want to set up the tank as an amphibian tank, so a mixture of land/dry spots and water, with good filtration and water movement. Feed frozen or freeze dried bloodworms as the main diet.
