Default Exotic animal seizure

Hmmm, I wonder if this is a certain fish store that used to reside in downtown YYC?

Humane Society needs help after seizing exotic animals

It is named as riverfront aquarium in other news stories and this isn't the first time animals have been seized from that location , hope they shut him down this time

Do you have a link to the news stories that name Riverfront? All the articles I've found, don't name the source of of the exotics.

I am wondering on what grounds they seized them. Last time I was in there everything looked happy. I am no expert but I have kept reptiles before I got into saltwater.

Without knowing the specifics search and seizures of animals can include

-illegally obtaining exotic animals without proper documentation
-selling prohibited or restricted species
-improper care and storage of exotic species
-selling of sick or diseased animals without treatment or documentation of treatments
-not licensed to sell exotic or reptilian species

Just a partial list of lesser known laws

No, it's NOT Jim from Ocean Aquatics. It's a guy named Mike who runs his Reptile Rescue and Education Centre in Mission. It's the SPCA's fourth raid. The SPCA do NOT get that he runs a rescue centre and so a lot of the reptiles he has were neglected by previous owners and Mike and his staff are trying to nurse them back to health. Instead, they go there seize the rats and reptiles and press charges of animal neglect against Mike and his centre. They raid before the morning feeding and water change, then they charge him with NOT having adequate food and water for his rescued reptiles. If it wasn't so serious, I'd want to puke at the stupidity of it all.
