hydor flo? does anyone use these things? ive had one in my supplies since day one and have never used it, what kind of powerhead does it attach too?

They come with attachments which fit on a variety of powerheads.
These are one of the simplest wave simulators you can buy IME.

I swear by these in smaller systems.
They fit right on to stock aquapod and biocube fittings and really make for excellent laminar flow in those systems.


Not as diverse or as powerful as a tunze or vortech but for what it is and excellent product.

They're useful, but all three that I've have stopped rotating within about a year of use even with regular maintenance. The problem is with how the gear mechanism is designed - there's too much play. As a result, the force of the water pushing out disengages the plastic gearing over time as the material wears.

My aquapod has had a flo hooked up to it's mj12 for almost 2 years now.
It has never stopped on me yet and I think I've only cleaned it once, fingers crossed.

This has been the longest I've used one, other times has been for 6 month or so before tank redo or crash or one thing or the other.
No problems there, but probably not enough use to have the problem mentioned arise...
