Smile Hi, and thanks!

Hi, I just wanted to thank everyone here for providing some excellent info on setting up and maintaining a reef tank.

I especially like the advanced chemistry and biology sticky's that delve alot further into the specifics of the hobby and give you alot of help with choosing one of the many methods of keeping a healthy beautiful aquarium. I've come to trust the opinions of many members here that I've found mirror some of the other reputable info I can come accross on the various reef forums and sites. This is very handy to a newbie because there is some pretty awful info out there and sometimes it's tough to discern the good from bad.

That being said, here's a bit of info on my tank: (I set it up in Jan '13)

-20G long display sitting on a Pine/Mahogany stand I built and finished/stained.
-Mahogany canopy with exhaust fans.
- +/- 25lbs of live rock
-DIY 15G sump with section for refugium containing Chaetomorpha.
-Tunze 9002 skimmer.
-Currently using a couple of Aquaray 600's for lighting but looking for better color/intensity control and considering the Maxspect Razor 120W 10,000k.
-Eheim 300gph return pump + 2 Koralia 425's for flow in display.
-Reef keeper lite to offer redundancy on my heater. Also like the feeding mode.
-I run carbon every three weeks or so and have a small amount of Phosguard in the sump as well.
-I change about 10% of water weekly and am pretty meticulous about cleaning and siphoning everything I can get to.

-Black Perc Clown
-Purple firefish (the nicest colors I've ever seen on one)
-Yasha Hase goby and candy stripe pistol shrimp

-RBTA
-Candy cane
-Duncan
-Pearl bubble
-Radioactive dragon eye zoa's (recent addition)

I'm a big photography nut case so I'll make sure to put my 100mm F2.8 macro lens to use and take some photos and post when I have a minute.

I'm starting to gain enough confidence to try some SPS and am constantly hunting the Buy/Sell forums for frags and good deals on equipment. So far I haven't killed anything and my hitchhiker mushrooms are finally starting to grow. Everything else has grown substantially and the mushrooms have always made me wonder about them.

Anyways, thanks again for the great info. I'm sure I have a lot more reading to do. (DSB vs. BB, Fuge vs. no fuge, LED vs. MH, etc. LOL)

Welcome! I also used this site extensively when I first set up my aquarium. The people are always quick to answer questions.

Can't wait to see your pics.

Default Pics

Here are a few pics of my tank. Still working on getting everything I have growing and colorful before adding more coral. My new Maxspect should help.

Default First fragging

I thought I'd share my first fragging results. Frags are now mounted on disks and seem to be doing alright. Not the smoothest of cuts on the Caulastrea but the Kenya tree couldn't have been easier. I tried to use epoxy to reattach the Caulastrea colony back onto the rock but that was a disaster. The epoxy clouded up the water and didn't stick very well. For now its just wedged in. Any one have good advice on mounting larger corals?
Thanks,
