Default live sand - Safe or not safe

just get back from Philippine and brought back some beautiful live sand but hesitate to put it in the aquarium.
The sand collect under water not on the beach..

is it safe to put in the aquarium? or I have to clean it and how?

Many thanks in advance

Chances are all the bacteria that was alive in it is now dead. Especially if it was frozen in checked luggage. I would wash it and then you could add it. Simply throw it into a bucket and rinse it with RODI water until the water runs clear. Maybe give it a little rinse with saltwater and then add it, just to flush out the freshwater.
