Default Skimmer Nog color!

40 gallon tank 60 or so pounds of live rock, live sand lots of corals next to no algae, hi Nitrates, tank running about a year..Bio load was five clowns none bigger than 1.5" couple brittle stars, couple cleaner shrimp and feed corals mysis 2 maybe three times a week....So now I put a Tunze 9002 skimmer in the tank I know under sized but I don't want SPS quality water with the corals I have. Skimmer running about 2 weeks and the waste it produces has a light green tinge rather brown...Never had a skimmer before and never read much about green skimate Does this mean anything? do I need to adjust something..? lol not much to adjust really..Just wondering why it is green..

That skimmer skims really wet/diluted. I have the same issue. I've never got mine to skim drier/darker.

I'm guessing this equals a less efficient job when it's only green?....I guess better than nothing but a bit pricey for a half arse job...

Not really less efficient. It's just pulling more water along with the skimmate.

adjust the height of the skimmer in relation to your water level. Bring it up a little higher probably a few centimeters. just play around with the height of your skimmer for a few days till you get your desired output.

Moved up about 1/2" Not perfectly level now because of thick trim on the tank but will see what happens, thanks.
