Was the very first coral I ever bought ( along with an elegance, but I lost that one about 10 years ago) barring something bad happening to the tank I will have this forever, or at least part of it as there is little baby bubbles forming on the sections that were damaged by the crab.

According to a recent poll that coral is older than 1/3 of Canreefers.

And has sweepers to match. This coral has the longest sweepers I've ever seen. It can sting 5 to 6 feet away, if it takes a disliking to another coral.

Probably why nothing else seems to thrive in the tank, tried moving it to one side and it was not happy, likes to be front and center.

I get to vote 1-2 years because that's where my current primary (280g) is at .. prior to that though the 115g and 75g tanks it replaced had a few km's on the odometer. 115g at around 6 years and the 75g made it close to 9 years or possibly beyond (I can't remember if it was 2000 or 2001 that I set that one up .. I think it was 2001.). The 75g itself replaced a 50g that was setup around 1998. So while I can't top a 24 year old coral, my oldest fish are my clown pair at around 14 years and my tang is now 11 years in my care. Time flies after a while.. Heck my "new" green gigantea carpet is now at 8 years (purchased 2004). Wow, it doesn't feel that long ago I was telling someone on RC about it being 2-3 years in my care. Holy schnike!

IME, things do get more difficult at the 2 year mark. Accumulation of things, and failure of things. Tearing all the rock down and replacing it counts as starting over!
