Default 3' cube tank stand planning

Here is the stand I am planning for my 3x3x2 tank. I have planned using 1.25"x0.125" square tubing. Wondering if I really need the uprights on the side. Probably dont with that size tubing. Maybe I can go with smaller square tube. The top and bottom will have mitered corners not as shown. 3/4' plywood will be on the top
Any suggestions?

Don't think you'll need those uprights, although I'd put a bar across the bottom front to prevent any spreading.

If anything go with 1 1/2" x .188 Hss instead of going smaller then what you have planned. Design is good, definitely need a tube across front bottom, if you don't mind having the mid verticals on the side do it but not needed.

I will look into the larger tube. I left the front horizontal our as I have been working on a roll out sump. This tank is going to very low to the ground (eye level while sitting on couch and top down view while standing). The drain/return will be designed with flex in the lines to accommodate this. For skimmer install/removal and general maintenance i will need to pull the sump out. I could add some gussets on the front that are the same as the sides to help flex.

I could add the horizontal 6 or 8 inches back from the front and still have it not interfere with the rolling system as it only comes out 18 to 24"

Seems all my projects I do have a strange spin to them.

Neat idea, if you add in some longer diagonal braces like the side's & back as low as you possibly work with that should work well. And if you have the room run a second tube to the underside of the front top horizontal tube.

By the way did you use Google Sketchup? If yes, How did you upload the pic.

Thanks for the ideas.

I did uses sketchup for that last night. I had some issues figuring it out but I ended up exporting the sketch from sketchup as a .jpg ( i think meduim quality) and then upload it to google picasa (similar to photobucket and already setup if you have a gmail account).

Then click on the image, link to this photo, click image only no link, then copy the embedded image code and place into post as an image.

Hopefully that helps.
