how Long has it been going?
How old is the tank?
Has the tank received any supplements or additives lately?
What is the level sitting at for the tunze?

the skimmer needs to have the special film on it to help coat the impeller and the acrylic.

Have u fed any Live food , Brine, Mysis shrimp ,..

You can lower the water level a bit too and that may help. The blue water line on the DOC skimmers is the maximum level, not the suggested level. When my 9016 was in my tank I usually had issues when the water was at the line vs. a little below it.
