Default What kind of crab is this?

Hi,

I've had this guy hitch-hike into my reef tank since he was tiny...have had him for about a year now...does anyone know if he is reef safe?

Thanks for all help,

Just learnt this a couple days ago. Usually if there claws are flat like a emeralds crab they are reef safe. If they are pointy then they are probably bad. Don't call me on this and wait for someone else to chime in on it because I'm not sure]

I have no clue what type of crab this is but I would tend to agree with the Goalie. There are exceptions though, like acro crabs for example. They have very sharp claws but are beneficial.

At the end of the day, my philosophy is that if you didn't put something in your tank, and you're at all uncertain about it, remove it. No point losing sleep over it :-)
