Default Feather Duster Cocoons

I recently accidentaly pushed the cocoon of my feather duster when i was repositioning a coral.... So now its just the feather duster on the sand without its shell, its attatched to the spot very well, so can it make a new shell or is he a gonner, there is nobody in the tank who would eat him either.
