Default Slow market ?

Did you guys find this hobby has been slowed down a lot recently? The evidence are:
FS posts took a longer time to get sold even with lower price
People shutting down or quitting
Fewer people and less posts on this forum
Fewer forum sponsors
Do you agree or disagree?
Is this a reflection of Canadian economy?

I agree. Right now both BCA (mostly freshwater) and CanReef are very quiet.
There is not much in the way of Marine corals and fish at King Ed the last few times I there. However, J&L Aquatics seems to continue to sell a lot of fish. Not sure about the economy.

Definitely. Around 10 years ago there were three retailers in PG who carried saltwater livestock. Now there are none. Even the lower mainland has lost a lot of retailers: Hidden Reef, Oceans Aquatics, Oceanic Corals etc. Around when I was getting into the hobby there were several more setting up tanks over 200gal locally. Nowadays its really rare. My annual earnings have been stagnant but the cost of this hobby has at least doubled since 2004.

Yes, every vendor should get out while they still can!

Kidding of course.

Every market has its season. May /June being the worst for this hobby. Why May / June? we are all outside getting the front yard, back yard, pool and pond ready for summer. Heck, Even I have spent more time on my pool the past 2 weeks than my tank.

Once July comes around and our lawns are green, we tend to look out for out tanks a little more.
