Default Power outage

Fyi power is out in port moody coquitlam and anmore. I've only had my tank up and running for 9 months now and we haven't had a outage yet. How long can it go with out power before I have issues. My wife is at home are there any actions she should take.

Hopefully the power is on soon. The biggest problem with an outage is water oxygenation. What she can do is take lke a wooden spoon and stir the water up for a few minutes every so often.

Must be up in the northern area, I'm closer to Lougheed and power's fine. Something good to have is a battery powered air-stone.

Heard 4 hrs is the max you want the tank to sit there. But much depends on water volume and bioload. Agitate water surface.

Whoa, read this and freaked a little since I'm 100 Kms away! Thanks goodness for my Apex.

I still don't have battery backup though.

I have just plugged in a small powerhead into an inverter in my car and ran an extents on cord.

Battery powered air stone is a good option. And as others have said, store the water surface every 15 minutes or so. Depends on your water volume.

My tank went 28hrs with almost no power (I had 1 mp40 running on my suburbans inverter for 12hrs sucking air from the surface) all I lost was a snail although I dont have much for corals in the tank, fish were fine tho

BC Hydro web site has a map of power outages as well as ETA for power back "ON".

But watch for those particle cannons aka the Sun ! Tonight and tomorrow morning,
if big enough CME comes our way forget about power for a long time !
