Ok so it has been a while so I thought I better do an update. I have changed directions on this build and sold most of the stuff I bought for it to this point. I am still using the 27 gal tanks though, and as soon as I get my shop insulated, drywalled and heat installed I will start the layout and stand build.

figured I better do an update, I think this is going to set the record for the longest tank build on canreef now

haven't don't anything really except selling off the stuff I bought and started to decide where I can set up a tank.

I currently have a bucket of water sitting on my bar downstairs and I try run down when a train goes buy to see how much the water moves around. that is complicated by the fact I keep forgetting to go down and look

I have decided to keep to my DIY roots as much as possible so I have build 2/3 the Ca reactor and Kalk reactor, just waiting for warmer weather to finish them as I still don't have heat in the shop. I have a skimmer that is 3/4 finish in the shop but I think one that would probably end up being good for like 1000 gal would be a little excessive for 54 gal of water... so I have to build a new one.

so what are the latest trends in skimmers now days that work?

does anyone sell needle wheel pumps that I can build a skimmer around?
