Default Scott's 135 gallon display tank build

So this is how it started. I used to have a 250 gallon fresh water tank and when we moved onto our acreage the wife said the tank was not moving into the new house because it takes up too much room. So I said that's fine I will get a smaller saltwater tank instead and she was fine with that. Well that was 5 years ago just been busy with life. So I finally decided I wanted my tank built into a wall right beside the couch were I sit and that's the closet at our front door.

And the wife was ok with it so I started calling around to get estimates on tank and sump with almost complete start up package. I ended up talking to Denny at concept aquariums in Calgary and he was giving me prices right over the phone on different packages. I was in Calgary so I stopped in to see Denny and purchase the tank and of course upgrades

So after some research I needed a ro-di unit and during this my wife found out that the aquarium was getting a ro unit and she said not before her. So I had to find one to do both so I ordered the vertex 100 gpd from j&l aquatics not even certain if it could do both.

So during the install I had to figure out how to run the water line from the basement to the kitchen tap in a completely finished basement. So I run the line thru my furnace duct work to mech room to a big 9 gallon pressure tank and to the vertex

For the vertex to do both all I had to do is put in some check valves and valves to reroute the lines a bit. I also put on a tds meter to see what was coming in which is over 1000 ppm and the ro drops it to 9 ppm for drinking water.

So before I cut open my wall I wanted the tank to be here. I had it shipped from Calgary to grande prairie. And this is the stuff I purchased 1 tank 45"-23"-30" sump was made to go under tank in the closet if I wanted it there but I chose to put it in my basement in mech room. The sump is 39"-19"-15" made to have two filter socks and ato compartment. I also had them do some of the pluming.

So I cut the hole in the wall and of course I had to reroute some wiring.

I had my kids prep the rest from there.

Any comments or questions just ask I'm farther into the build so I'm trying to remember back to all the things I've done. I'm normally not a forum guy I like to read them just not post. But with this being my first build I might need some help.

As far as jebao control goes I believe the apex is limited to just turning it on and off. The control is done from the controller that you get with the power head.

I believe there is a member (torx I think) that can conjure up a magical cable that gives you control through your apex but you have to have the full apex (not lite or Jr.).

Hope this helps,
Dunc

Stick by it, they are pretty frustrating but you'll get it working in the end.

I purchased the cord from torx and have apex neptune with lab grade probs and energy bar 8. Most of the videos on line are old ones. I guess one good thing is I can give someone my password to sort it all out if I have too.

You'll find with Apex that it can do a lot but you have to keep buying parts to make it do more. Your build is similar to what I'm working on and here is what I've come up with so far. As your base unit is in the basement and your lights and jebao pumps are upstairs you need the VDM module so you have the 0-10v ports to plug Torx's cable into (or you will need to change the cable you have to make the cord reach from upstairs to those ports on your base unit. If you get the VDM module it will need to go upstairs which means you will need to get an aquabus cable long enough to reach from downstairs. You can find a 15' M-M cable pretty easy but my distance is more than that so I'm having Denny order me a 15' M-F aquabus cable also. He hasn't ordered mine yet so if you need one get him to order another one.

For the Radions you will need the WXM module which can connect to the radions wirelessly so you would not need that upstairs. On the forums for Apex, I read a few people having issues with connecting to the apex as apparently Ecotech has to supply the module and the firmware updates to Neptune systems to make it work and Ecotechs reeflink system gets the updates first and then later Neptune systems. The latest update was hoped to solve some of the problems people were having. For that reason I ended up going with the Reeflink system instead.

Programming isn't the easiest but after you do it a bit it gets easier and the manual makes more sense. I have what you have (minus the radions) on my current system and found I needed to use a combination of the manual and the forums to figure things out. There is some program examples for the jebao in the forums but I didn't really like them and have been playing with some of my own settings. I did use that programming as my base though, except I'm changing some of the timing parameters.

If you want to pm me your Apex user name I can let you look at my setup. I'm assuming you managed to get Fusion set up??

PS. I haven't tried letting someone else into my apex but I don't think you ever give anyone your password. They sign into their own Fusion account and you set within your system what level access that user name will have.
