Default Friend or Foe

Recently on one of my rocks at the bottom of the tank a feather like coral / plant has apeared...... It looks like single feathers atatched by a single green thread of growth.. they are light green in color / the thread is about 5 inches long with about 6 single feathers on it spaced away from each other...

any ideas on what this is?

Could be a feather duster? Lots of tube worms do the same kind of thing, check them out.

They are good, help filter water, don't hurt anything.

Sounds like bryopsis. Which isn't good. Google it and you should be able to tell fairly quickly

I agree. Try to remove it. If it gets out of hand the only way to get rid of it is to boost your magnesium up to 1500ppm for a while. The only mag that worked for myself and a few others is the Kent Marine Tech Magnesium.
