hahaha, I thought the exact same thing before I read it.

Grizz - that tank looked like it was packed to survive a nuclear war! Great job.

ensquire - can't wait to see this build thread! Your last one (RIP) was fun to follow

I should have waited for the tank. I wouldn't have had to buy any material to build the stand

I was not taking any chances getting that tank up north, it had to make it in one piece.

Just used some crappy econo studs so they would not be good for a solid stand

Only took me 45 minutes to tear down Greg's crate to get to the tank.
Put first coat on CIL Marine Paint on top of the primer. Last tank was all black, and the first thing I noticed was salt creep on the inside of the stand. So this ones gonna be all white inside.

Here is my first look at the tank and it's in awesome shape....

So, it's time for my first discussion on the build. The overflow is drilled with 2 holes for a 1 1/2" and a 1" bulkhead. It also has a hole drilled at the top of the overflow for another 1" bulkhead for the return. So basically what I have is a setup for a durso standpipe . My concerns are all about safety, as far as overflowing the display if there is a blockage. I had a beananimal previous and it was quiet and worry free. and it would be very easy set up a herbie and just drill a couple of holes for the returns thru the back or even over the top.
Suggestions and opinions expected here LOL

Went hunting for fittings and valves today, HAHHAHHAHA that was funny. Online shopping it is.

45 mins? What took you so long

I have Durso's in all 3 of my tanks and have never had them plug up at all. I have occasionally reached in to see if there is anything in or around them but come up empty. As for sound I don't here a thing from them, the hardest part is getting the right size breather hole drilled in to the cap so what I did was drilled a hole big enough for a 3/8" PVC air valve to be able to fine tune it. Just an idea for you to think about.

I scored a chunk of 3/8" airline today as well, just have to find a cap and valve to control the flow, I like the durso, its easy, and very quiet, I dont hear anything at all. durso all the way

Nice paint. Good thing you posted pics, or we'd say it never happened
Lots of ribbin' ya from here too ... what took ya so long to break it down?
Cheap cordless ... BAAAHHH ... you should have been so excited to open it up that, well, you get the idea
Seriously though, Durso ... Herbie ... hmmm
You have the holes to run a Herbie with a return inside your overflow. Lucky you. Check it out, you might be happy ...
