Default Lighting for 6ft tank

So I'm currently thinking about switching from T5 over to halides. Was wondering peoples opinions on how many I should run over a 6ft tank. is 2 enough? Is 3 to much? Input would be appreciated.

3 for sure. Each will cover a 2x2 area with good reflectors.

What bulbs will you run? I'd been considering it myself but actually bailed due to the Phoenix no longer being made.

Oh hey, DE 250w are great, I know a girl locally that runs them. Another woman up Island too. Pets and Ponds may have some Phoenix left in stock, you could buy them all.

Nice choice on going halides! I've run two lamps spaced equally over the tank and right now I'm only running one in a Hamilton Bali sun pendant right now. Using 400w plusrite 20k lamp which actually colours up to 14k halide. Very crisp white blue colour, bulbs can be ordered online
