This whole ban on the song is just the start... Unless it is overturned, more will come.
KUDO's to all the radio stations that either will play the song in a marathon, or just ban the song in its entirety based on that they don't play censored music. Even the gay population overall says this is just ridiculous. Lets see what happens.

Wasn't even the CRTC it was the Canadian Broadcast Standards Council, the broadcast industries own body. It's unbelievable the power one crybaby can have over an entire country, the question is where does it stop? Pretty much everything on our airways must offend at least one person, with this precedent the industry will eventually ban itself.
Glad I've got a satellite radio, I can boycott the entire nanny state system in Canada.

The actual story on this song is that Mark Knopfler wandered in to an appliance store and was standing in front of a bank of TV's, all which were on MTV. A delivery guy (for the store) came up to him and remarked on the easy life of the guy playing. |He obviously didn't know who he was talking to! (and you can see the actual comments from MK on youtube.... it's hilarious). The song is written from this dude's perspective.... not Mark Knopflers. In effect, its about how this other guy see's Mark, as he is one of those faggots with the earring and the makeup....
as per the misses the biggest mark knopler geek i know!
