Default I lost a Clown today

Just needed to air my feelings.

Lost a clown today. Jumped out a tiny gap in the lid. I had this pair of Clowns for 10+ years. I can see the other clown is upset and behaving differently. Searching around the tank and I wish I could comfort my clown.

Needed to share

Sucks big time. Sometimes no matter what you do seems fate throws you a curveball.
Buy another fish and be happy giving it the same name the previous one had.
Eventually you'll forget the loss.

Trust me, I've been there.

Oh, and your other fish will eventually get over it once you add another smaller clown.

Any idea what an appropriate amount of time would be before introducing a new clown and should it be smaller or more mature?

Because your current clown is the Boss, I'd recommend adding a smaller one.
This will minimize fighting. Even though the current one may not have been in charge, it's still the boss of the tank now.

As far as waiting I can't say. I'm sure there's a grieving period but there's also a period where the current fish will stake too much territory and not allow other fish.

Personally I'd just add one right away, barring a QT cycle.

I know, not much help but rather you had some info vs none.

Sorry for your loss. Sometimes people not in the hobby don’t understand, but with all the effort it takes and the love we have for these creatures, it really is hard to lose one. I still miss my Snape but I have a new goby and the renewal process does help.
I second the suggestion of adding a smaller clown. Good luck

Sorry to hear the loss. I am sure you can put one in fairly quick.
