Default foxface dead after 6 weeks QT??

i have been trying to do everything right with my new(well old now)tank and whanted to make sure there was no ick ect that got into the tank, i setup a 20g QT and put a cycled ac500 on it and i got a 3" foxface on boxing day, he was doing realy well no disease i dosed with prazi pro afew times and soaked his nori in it, i also added a 3" hippo tang jan 11 and hes done great as well, iam thinking of moveing tanks so left them in QT and was going to just put them in the 75g today so they had more room(and i could get more fish)but i dident see the foxface come out of the PVC pipes to eat this morning and after moveing them i found him dead, iam mixing water right now for a big WC but now iam not sure what to do about the tang, its totaly freaked out from me moveing the pipes around and wont come out i would like to move it but iam scared it might have something wrong with it now? i have been vary bissy the last few days and havent realy topped the QT up or fed them much sg is 28-29 its been a week today that i did a WC,

dos anyone have any advice should i QT the hippo longer or move him i dont whant to loose him too

Were you doing hypo salinity? sg should be about 36
What are your other water parameters, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate?

When I QT, I do a 20% water change every day to keep ammonia in check. What's the ammonia test at?

I maintain my DT's and QTs the same. 1.025 Salinity and 79-80*...

+1 with the frequent water changes though

When you put the refractometer to your eye, the eyepiece can be turned to focus it for your eye. If you have a refractometer, use it, calibrate it. It is more accurate than a swing arm hydrometer

i have tried afew times in the store to read a refactometer and i cant realy see to the end well, iam vary visualy impared BTW legaly blind in fact, i also cant see water tests well and i must confess i have never tested anything in any of my tanks for years, i do have an API nitrate test kit and i might be able to have someone read it for me but i dont realy see what good it will do the foxface was missing(assumed dead)all day so iam sure the nitrate has shot up, but like i said i do have an aquaclear 500 at full power on the tank with a cycled spong and scrubbie pads in it not just an air sponge filter so theres good flow and oxegination in the tank, iam about to do a 50% WC so iam hopeing that will fix it and i think i might just move the tang in the morning sence i know there wont be any water issues in the 75g iam just hopeing its healthy

My vision is fine and sometimes I have a hard time reading refractometers.
