Default My Little Tank

Set Up Date : Nov 2001 - corals transfer from 20G and 5.5G. 20G running for about 2 years.

Tank Size (LxHxW | Volume): 48" X 24" X 18" (90 G)

Refugium Size (LxHxW | Volume): 16" X 10" X 8" (5.5G Rubbermaid)

Live Rock (Mass): 1 pound live / 60 pound base rock

Live Sand (Mass): 200 lb of dolomite lime

Lighting (Type | Wattage | Photoperiod): 240 watts of overdriven NO (T8 overdriven 250% above normal) for 8 hours

Protein Skimmer (Brand | Model): DIY 4"x6' Counter Current with TetraTec Deep DW96-2.

Biological Filtration (Type): 5 inch DSB in Display tank and 1.5 inches Mineral Mud in refuguim.

Circulation (Rate | Brand | Model): 1xMJ400, 2xMJ900 and 2xMJ1200 (Spray bar)

Return Pump (Rate | Brand | Model): MJ1200 (same as spray bar) but tee off to drive refugium, skimmer and Ca reactor.

Reactor - DIY Calcium Reactor - built with water filter.

pH (Morning | Evening): 8.1/8.2

Temperature (Range | oC | oF): 78 F

Specific Gravity / Salintity (g/g | ppt): 1.025

Alkalinity (meq/l | dKH): 16 dkH (usually 10-12, but elevated to fight potential green algae problems)

Calcium (ppm): 400 ppm

Ammonia (ppm): 0 ppm

Nitrite (ppm): 0 ppm

Nitrate (ppm): 0 ppm

Phosphate (ppm): 0 ppm

Fish : percula clown fish, Mandarin Goby and yellow tang

Corals : Red, green fuzzy, green striped mushroom, bubble coral, golden toadstool, devil's hand, ricordea mushrooms, colt coral, tree coral, torch coral, blue and elongate xenia, purple polyps, yellow leather, green centre and yellow centre button polyps, candy cane (regular + white), acropora sp., green and dark red montipora capricornius.

Invertebrates : Astrea and Turbo snails. Scarlet crabs. Some assorted snails in refugium.

Maintenance Program : Trim macro algae and 5% water change per month. Every 6 months - 25% and a simulate storm.

Additional Information (include estimated total system cost if known): Originally started with a 20G and slowly migrated to 90G. Total cost of 90G setup is about $1500. $1100 equipment and $400 livestock.
